The Best Marriott Hotels in Bali, Ranked (2026)
Marriott runs around 30 hotels in Bali, more than any other group. Most are Courtyards, Four Points and Fairfields, so only a handful are worth the flight. The Laguna is my top pick for most people, thanks to its swim-out lagoon rooms at about half the price of the St. Regis. You can see all the other options below.
I’ve ranked seven, for what I’d spend my own money on.
- The Laguna: swim-out lagoon rooms in Nusa Dua.
- Mandapa: one of the great hotels of the world.
- The St. Regis: the splurge that’s great with kids.
- W Bali: big rooms and the Seminyak scene.
- Westin Ubud: Ubud with kids, for mid-range money.
- Cicada: a small valley hideaway north of Ubud.
- Le Méridien: Jimbaran Bay, 15 minutes from the airport.
The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Of all Marriott’s Bali hotels, this is the one I’d pick. It’s my top pick in my Nusa Dua guide too, and nothing else in Marriott’s Bali line-up gives you this much for 5-star money.
The resort is built around seven saltwater lagoons that wind between the wings. Book a Lagoon Access room and you step off your terrace into the water. I think it’s the best swim-up room in Bali.
It’s on the sand inside the gated centre of Nusa Dua, with no road to cross. Bali Collection’s restaurants are a short walk away. The 2023 refit means the rooms don’t look tired, and new tennis, padel and pickleball courts opened in mid-2026.
The catch: there’s no kids club. With under-10s you’re on duty all day, so I’d book it as a couple or with kids old enough to entertain themselves in the lagoons.
I think breakfast is average. The walls are thin, so ask for a room without a connecting door. Nusa Dua is tidal, so you swim in the sea at high tide.
Book it if you want a swim-out room and a calm beachfront resort without paying St. Regis money.
Skip it if you've got under-10s and want a few hours off.
Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Mandapa is the best Marriott in Bali, and one of the great hotels of the world. You feel it from the moment you arrive. It’s my top luxury pick in Ubud too.
It sits deep in the Ayung River valley, about 3 km from central Ubud. The resort steps down through rice paddies to the river, and you eat looking over both.
There are only 60 suites and villas, so it never feels busy. The service is what I’d come for, and it’s as personal as hotels get.
If I’m booking Mandapa, I’m booking a pool villa. The suites don’t have their own pool, and they’re a different stay altogether.
The catch: it’s not a place you dip in and out of. You can’t walk to Ubud for dinner, so you rely on the hotel car or a driver. The valley paths are steep, though the buggies come quickly.
There’s no beach either, and it’s about 75 minutes from the airport, 2 hours in traffic.
I’d book it as a couple, for 3 or 4 nights at the start or end of a trip, then head to the coast.
Book it if it's a big anniversary or a honeymoon and you want the best service in Bali.
Skip it if you want a beach or dinner on foot.
The St. Regis Bali Resort
If money’s no object, this is the best Marriott in Bali for kids. It’s also the one I’d book for a honeymoon in Nusa Dua, which tells you how well it does both.
The kids club is free for ages 4 to 12, and under-4s can go with a parent. As of 2026, kids 12 and under also eat free on stays of 2 nights or more. Breakfast is included, and there’s sashimi on it.
It sits at the quiet south end of Nusa Dua, on Geger Beach. The pool is a huge saltwater lagoon, and there’s a separate kids pool.
The butler service is a big part of the appeal, though not every room type comes with one.
The catch: the price. For a regular family week, honestly, I’d book The Laguna or the Westin Nusa Dua and spend the difference on a longer trip.
Some of it is starting to show its age, too. The villas were last refreshed in 2018, and parts of the resort feel a bit dated. It’s very quiet, so don’t come for a pool scene.
Book it if it's a once-in-a-decade trip and you want the kids looked after as well as you.
Skip it if you want a pool scene, or you'd only book the entry room to say you stayed.
W Bali – Seminyak
If you want your Bali holiday to be fun, book the W. It’s the liveliest Marriott in Bali, and it’s my pick in the best luxury hotels in Seminyak for mates who want a scene.
The rooms are huge for the price. Even the standard rooms are 64 square metres. I’d book an ocean-facing room on level 4 or 5, which comes with a skylight in the bathroom.
The main pool steps down towards the beach, and I think the breakfast is one of the best in Seminyak. You can walk to the restaurants at the Petitenget end.
What’s changed: as of September 2026, the famous Woo Bar is gone. Alunê has replaced it, with all-day dining, sunset music and private cabanas with their own jacuzzis. There’s a new padel club too. It’s too new for me to say whether it’s as good.
The catch: it’s busy and it’s loud. If you want a quiet pool and an early night, this isn’t it.
Some rooms are starting to look dated, and the beach out front is rough surf with litter at times. Don’t plan on swimming in the sea, and I wouldn’t count on a kids club.
Book it if you're a couple or a group of mates who want a big room, a buzzing pool and dinner on foot.
Skip it if you want peace and quiet, a kids club, or a beach to swim at.
The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, Bali
For Ubud with kids, this is the Marriott I’d book. It does most of what a family needs for a fraction of Mandapa’s price.
It’s south of town, about 15 minutes from central Ubud. The infinity pool hangs over the jungle, and there’s a kids pool with a little waterfall, with the kids club right beside it.
The entry Garden View King is 49 square metres, with a balcony. That’s bigger than most mid-range rooms in Bali.
The catch: the standard rooms sleep three at most, so a family of four needs the Family Suite or two connecting rooms. Rooms facing the road, the lift and the lobby can be loud, so I’d ask for the garden side.
You can’t walk into town, so plan on a driver. It’s about an hour from the airport, more in traffic.
Book it if you want a few nights in Ubud with kids, a proper pool and a kids club, for mid-range money.
Skip it if you're a light sleeper, or you want to walk to Ubud's restaurants.
Cicada Resort Bali Ubud, Autograph Collection
Almost nobody lists this one, and I think it’s the most underrated Marriott in Bali.
It’s tiny, with 20 suites and 10 villas, so it feels like a hideaway. The villas have their own heated pools. Even the entry Valley Suite is 66 square metres.
Breakfast is cooked to order rather than a buffet, which I much prefer. The infinity pool is quiet, and the spa sits down by the river.
The catch: the location. Despite the name, it’s out near the Tegallalang rice terraces, about 10 km north-east of central Ubud. It’s 1.5 to 2 hours from the airport, and you’ll want a car.
Housekeeping can be patchy, and some rooms sit next to noisy outdoor air-conditioning units, so ask for one away from them. There’s no kids club, and some bathrooms have see-through doors, which is fine for couples and less so for families.
With only 30 rooms, book early for July and Christmas.
Book it if you're a couple who want a small, quiet place with your own heated pool, and you don't mind the drive.
Skip it if you want to walk to restaurants, or you need a kids club.
Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran
The location is the reason to book this one. It’s about 15 minutes from the airport, and Jimbaran Bay’s seafood dinners on the sand are a short walk away.
It’s the cheapest Marriott on this list. The saltwater lagoon pool is big and quiet, and the staff are lovely.
The catch: the upkeep. Parts of the hotel are worn, some rooms smell musty, and the maintenance isn’t what you’d expect from a 5-star brand.
So book a Deluxe lagoon-view room, not the Classic. They’re the better rooms.
There’s no beachfront either. The sand is a couple of hundred metres away, across the road. Smoke from the seafood grills sometimes drifts over in the evening.
I’d book it for a night or two before an early flight home, not for a whole week.
Book it if you want a cheap night near the airport and seafood on Jimbaran Bay.
Skip it if you're fussy about upkeep, or you want the beach right outside your room.
The St. Regis vs The Ritz-Carlton
These are Marriott’s two top-end resorts on the Nusa Dua coast, and both are good with kids. The Ritz-Carlton, Bali sits on the clifftop at Sawangan, just past the south end of Nusa Dua.
- Setting. The St. Regis is flat and right on the sand. The Ritz-Carlton is up on the cliff, with a glass lift down to the beach.
- Kids. It’s close. Both have a free kids club for ages 4 to 12, and the Ritz-Carlton’s kids pool has a slide. The St. Regis edges it, because kids 12 and under eat free.
- Food. Breakfast is included at the St. Regis. The Ritz-Carlton is out on its own, so you eat every meal at the resort, with big mark-ups.
- Rooms. Neither is new. The St. Regis villas were last refreshed in 2018, and parts of the Ritz-Carlton feel dated for what you pay.
- Price. The Ritz-Carlton usually costs less, but not by enough to make up for eating every meal on site.
My pick: the St. Regis. It’s the more special stay, it’s on the sand, and the kids eat free. If it’s out of reach, I’d book The Laguna rather than the Ritz-Carlton.
Mandapa vs Westin Ubud vs Cicada
Marriott has three hotels around Ubud, and they’ve got almost nothing in common.
- Getting there. Mandapa and the Westin are about an hour to 75 minutes from the airport. Cicada is up to 2 hours.
- Getting into town. Mandapa is about 3 km from central Ubud, and the Westin about 15 minutes. Cicada is 10 km north-east.
- Kids. The Westin has a kids club and a kids pool. Cicada has no kids club, and I’d book Mandapa as a couple.
- Size. Cicada has 30 rooms, Mandapa 60, and the Westin well over 100.
My pick: Mandapa, if you want to stay at one of the best hotels in the world. The Westin with kids. Cicada as a couple who want somewhere small and quiet for less than Mandapa.
Not on my list
Bulgari Resort Bali. It’s a great clifftop resort in Uluwatu, but I’d skip it. Honestly, it’s too expensive for what you get. Parts of it feel dated, and I don’t think the service is a match for Mandapa’s. Mandapa costs less too, so I’d book it every time.
The Westin Resort Nusa Dua. If you want a Westin on the beach, this is the better one for families. It has a free kids club, a slide in the main pool and rooms with two double beds. See my Westin Nusa Dua review.
Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. It’s my best-value pick in my Uluwatu guide, with a kids club and a Family Loft for mid-range money. It’s inland in the hills behind Balangan, with no beach and nothing to walk to, which is why it’s not here.
The new ones. Avala Nusa Dua and Hiliwatu, near Ubud, both opened in 2026 and are too new to judge. The JW Marriott in Ubud isn’t open yet as of October 2026.
So, which one should you book?
- If I could only book one: The Laguna, in a Lagoon Access room.
- A honeymoon: Mandapa, in a pool villa. Then a few nights on the coast.
- Families: the St. Regis if money’s no object, or the Westin Ubud for a few nights in the jungle.
- Couples or mates who want some fun: W Bali.
