The Best Beachfront Hotels & Resorts in Sanur (2026)

The best hotel in Sanur is the Hyatt Regency Bali. It’s a big-brand resort right on the beach, it’s priced like a 4-star, and nothing else in Sanur comes close for the money. If money’s no object, book the Andaz next door.

Sanur is for families and couples who want calm water, a beach path to walk every morning and early nights. If you want a party, stay in Seminyak.

Where to Stay in Sanur

Sanur is a long, low-rise strip on Bali’s east coast, about 30 minutes from the airport, 50 in traffic. A paved beach path runs about 5 km down the whole thing, and you’ll walk it every morning.

Where you sit on that path matters more than most people think.

  • The centre. Sindhu down to Batu Jimbar. The Hyatt, Andaz and Maya are here, along with most of the cafés. This is where I’d stay, every time.
  • The north end. The Meru, next to the fast-boat harbour. It’s quiet at night and a long walk to dinner.
  • The south end. Mertasari, home to Puri Santrian. Quieter, fewer hawkers, further from everything.

The north end, by the fast-boat harbour, is quiet and a long walk to dinner. The centre, from Sindhu down past Batu Jimbar, holds Maya Sanur, the Andaz and the Hyatt Regency, with the Sindhu night market and ICON Bali mall. Where each part of Sanur sits.

The beach. You can only really swim in Sanur at high tide, and hardly anyone mentions it. A reef keeps the water calm, but at low tide it drains off and leaves a long flat of sand and seagrass.

So check the tides, swim when the water’s up, and pack reef shoes. The rest of the day you’re in the pool, which is why I rate every hotel here on its pool as much as its beach.

Food. This is where Sanur beats Nusa Dua. The beach path is lined with cafés, and the Sindhu night market is the best cheap dinner in town. On a wet day, the ICON Bali mall has a cinema and an arcade.

Nightlife. Locals call it “Snore”, and they’re not wrong. It’s a Bintang at sunset and bed by ten.

Day trips. Sanur is the jumping-off point for Nusa Penida and Lembongan. The fast boat to Penida takes about 45 minutes, so book ahead in the school holidays.

All-inclusive. Sanur doesn’t have a real all-inclusive resort, whatever the packages say. If that’s what you’re after, I’d book Paradisus in Nusa Dua.

My Top Pick

Hyatt Regency Bali

Best valueFamily-friendlyMid-range · ~A$150–250

I think the Hyatt Regency is the best-value hotel in Sanur. It’s a proper 5-star resort on the beach, with 9 hectares of gardens, a cave pool and a great club lounge. And it often costs mid-range money.

The main pool has a swim-through replica of the Goa Gajah cave, and there’s a lap pool for grown-ups.

It’s especially good for families. There’s a kids pool with a slide, a kids club for ages 4 to 12 and plenty of lawn to run around on. The gardens are big enough that it feels more secluded than you’d expect in the middle of Sanur.

Get club access if you can. The food and drinks run all day, and it changes the whole stay. Don’t miss the pizza place on the beach either.

The catch: the rooms are on the small side, and the walls are thin. So don’t book the entry room. Book a Deluxe or Premium room, ideally with club access.

Book it if you want a proper beachfront resort with great pools and a kids club, for mid-range money.

Skip it if you want a small, quiet hotel. The Andaz next door is that, for a lot more the price.

Andaz Bali

LuxuriousCouples-friendlyFamily-friendly5-star · ~A$250–500

The Andaz is the most luxurious hotel in Sanur. It sits right next to the Hyatt Regency, but it’s a completely different stay: small, intimate and laid out like a Balinese village.

The rooms are the best in Sanur. They’re beautifully kitted out, right down to the Dyson hair dryers, and kept spotless. Book a Lagoon Access room and you step straight out to the water.

It works for couples and families, which is rare. For a family of four, I’d book an Andaz Suite connected to a Twin room, which gives you two bedrooms. The Kemu Mai kids club takes ages 4 to 12, and there’s a shallow kids pool behind the main one.

The catch: the price. It costs a lot more than the Hyatt next door. And the kids club is only free for the first 2 hours a day, then it’s charged by the hour.

Book it if you want the best room in Sanur, as a couple or a family.

Skip it if you'd rather spend much less at the Hyatt next door and put the difference into club access.

Maya Sanur Resort & Spa

If you’re a big family, Maya Sanur is the best hotel in Sanur for you. Even the standard rooms are about 57–61 square metres, which is huge for the price.

For families, book any room with two double beds. Most categories offer them. They’re what you want once your kids are too big to share a sofa bed, and I think they’re the most room you’ll get for your money in Sanur. The kids club is free too.

The room I’d splurge on is the Beachfront Pool Suite, about 106 square metres with its own pool. Then I’d spend sunset at the Tree Bar on the sand.

The catch: it doesn’t have the grounds, the gardens or the pools of the Hyatt and the Andaz. The beach out front is narrow too, with nowhere much to sit.

Book it if you've got bigger kids and want two proper beds and room to spread out.

Skip it if big gardens and a beautiful pool are what make a holiday for you. That's the Hyatt.

Puri Santrian

Puri Santrian sits right on the sand at the quiet south end. It’s in half the Aussie package deals going, and the spot is the reason why.

It’s an old-school, low-rise resort of about 200 rooms, set in big beachfront gardens. The staff and the breakfast are the best things about it, and the service is better than the rooms would suggest.

Pick the wrong room here and you’ll wonder what the fuss is about. I’d book the Santrian Club, an adults-only wing in its own gardens with a private pool and Jacuzzi. Depending on your rate, breakfast and afternoon tea are included.

If the Club is full, the Premier Deluxe rooms are adults-only too, in a newer wing with its own infinity pool. With kids in tow, I’d book a Deluxe room. The hotel has redesigned them, and I think they’re the pick of the standard rooms.

I’d skip the Superior garden rooms. They’re roomy, but they’re dark and dated, with lots of stairs and a longer walk to the beach.

There are several pools, two of them adults-only, plus a children’s pool. The water out front is sheltered by a breakwater, so it’s calm and shallow. Same rule as the rest of Sanur, though: swim at high tide.

Kayaks, paddleboards and bikes are free. The Beach Club Restaurant on the sand does everything from breakfast to pizza and curries, with live music most days and a seafood barbecue on Saturday nights. For a change, there’s a strip of warungs a 5-minute walk along the beach path.

The catch: the rooms are tired, and some are quite dark. Even in the Club, the rooms feel old and the pool is small. The main pools get busy, and some blocks have no lift, so ask for the ground floor if stairs are a problem.

There’s no kids club either, so with under-12s I’d book the Hyatt or Maya Sanur instead. You’re paying for the sand, not the room.

Book it if you want the beach on your doorstep at the quiet end of town, and you'll book the Club or a Deluxe room.

Skip it if you've got young kids who need a kids club, or you'd be paying Hyatt money for a Superior room.

Prama Sanur Beach Bali

Prama is the cheap family option, and on paper it looks good. It’s right on the beach, the kids club is free, and the Splash Zone pool has slides.

The problem is the hotel. It opened in 1974 as the Sanur Beach Hotel, and it feels like it hasn’t had a proper refresh in about 30 years. The rooms are very dated. The only new ones are the Club rooms.

It’s a big, busy, 428-room hotel. Your kids won’t care, as long as the slides are open. You will.

The catch: the rooms are worn out.

It’s the budget pick. Honestly, I’d only book it if the budget really can’t stretch to the Hyatt, and even then I’d book a Club room.

Book it if you've got under-12s, a tight budget, and the slides matter more than the room.

Skip it if you care about the room at all. Spend the extra on the Hyatt.

The ones I’d skip

The Meru Sanur. It charges Andaz prices, but it isn’t in the same league. There’s one small rectangular pool, not a lot going on for kids, and a boring kids club. For the same money I’d stay at the Andaz, or at the Hyatt for half.

Griya Santrian. The Beach Wing rooms are tired, and it has a bit of a retirement village feel. Its sister, Puri Santrian, is the better buy.

InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort. The old Fairmont, down at the south end. The rooms are inconsistent, and some of them are damp. The beach out front is full of boats, so it’s not much good for a swim. It costs about the same as the Andaz, and I’d book the Andaz.

Not on my list

Prime Plaza Suites Sanur. It’s not on the beach, which defeats the point of staying in Sanur. It’s more of a budget pick.

So, which one should you book?

  • If I could only book one: the Hyatt Regency, in a Deluxe or Premium room with club access.
  • Money’s no object: the Andaz, as a couple or a family.
  • A family on a tight budget: Prama, in a Club room, but only if the slides matter more than the room.
  • A big family, or bigger kids who need their own bed: Maya Sanur, in a room with two double beds.
